David Green, President
David has over 30 years of experience in the solid waste industry. He first represented waste companies as outside counsel. He then joined the largest waste and recycling company in America where he served as a Region General Counsel in Florida and Texas before becoming Vice President and General Counsel for the company’s Southern Group.
David moved into operations serving as a Market Area Vice President and eventually managed landfill development and acquisition throughout the South. He has successfully permitted and expanded landfills, negotiated landfill privatizations and completed over $100 million in acquisitions. David remains a member of the Florida Bar Association.
Bruce L. Roy, Corporate Controller, VP
Bruce has in excess of 30 years of business experience in accounting with the Solid Waste and Banking Industries. His experience in the Waste Industry includes the responsibilities of Corporate Controller, Chief Financial Officer and Southeast Regional Controller.
Thad Owings, Director of Landfill Operations & Development, VP
Thad has over 25 years in the waste industry working for one of the nation’s largest waste companies. His experience includes all phases of landfill permitting, construction and management for both greenfield sites and landfill expansions.
Thad has successfully negotiated contracts with solid waste authorities, major municipal contracts and large industrial customers. Thad’s expertise also extends to community outreach and engagement and working closely with elected officials throughout the permitting process.
Alfonso Sifuentes, Director of Market Development & Community Relations
Alfonso, who is bilingual, has more than 30 years of construction and project management experience. He successfully started and sold a manufacturing company specializing in engineered building components. He also brings knowledge in the medical waste industry having been previously employed with Stericycle, Inc., a medical waste company. Alfonso also holds a license and/or certification in the waste industry from the following:
- TEXAS COMMISSION ON ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (CLASS A MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE (MSW) OPERATOR)

Joy Hammonds, Director of Corporate Administration
Joy has been with Green Group team since 2005 and has handled all the administrative functions in the corporate office as well as served as support for all Green Group in-house project management. She started in the position as an Executive Assistant and has since moved into her current role as Director, Corporate Administration. In this role, she directly handles all corporate matters such as client communication, record keeping, and supervising administrative staff. Her ability to improve processes and policies as well as lead long-term organizational planning have enhanced development and operations projects within Green Group.
Trey Smith, Sales and Marketing
Trey Smith, president and founder of Green Rock Strategies, LLC, has been providing waste services in the environmental industry for more than 20 years. Trey’s core competency is his understanding of the markets and ability to deliver strategic, sustainable solutions to customers across the spectrum that are dealing with all facets of waste issues.
Trey provides sales and marketing services for each of Green Group’s disposal facilities as well as the direct contractor for key lines of business. His work with the company has covered projects across the United States in all aspects of waste management to include coal ash transportation and disposal for the utilities in the Southeast to oilfield waste in the Powder River Basin, Texas and the Marcelles, to long haul projects for municipal solid waste and contaminated soils out of the Northeast.
Trey has extensive experience in hazardous and non-hazardous waste management and logistics, re-use, recycling and waste-to- energy, waste treatment, remediation and industrial services, abatement and demolition, exploration and production waste, and emergency and disaster response. His record of providing sustainable, cost effective solutions includes many successful projects that required meeting challenges ranging from marine transfer to brownfields to waste-by-rail to wetland restoration.
From 1996 to 2012, Trey worked with Republic Services and was instrumental in the development of Republic Services’ special waste program, where he held the position of Director of Special Waste for the Eastern U.S. and had responsibilities in 20 landfill markets from Pennsylvania to Florida.
