Grasslands Environmental Facility Opens Near Bill, Wyoming

September 26, 2014

New facility designed to safely and efficiently serve Wyoming’s oil and gas exploration and production industry

DOUGLAS, Wyoming – Sept. 26, 2014 – A grand opening event was held today at the new Grasslands Environmental facility near Bill, Wyoming. Grasslands Environmental is a turnkey waste management facility designed to fully serve the disposal and water needs of Wyoming’s oil and gas exploration and production industry at a single location.

Operated by GGH Wyoming, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Green Group Holdings, the facility will include a pull through commercial oilfield wastewater disposal facility (COWDF), an industrial landfill, a non-potable water supply well, and two Class I injection wells. Grasslands Environmental covers 482 acres and will contain approximately 10 million cubic yards of permitted airspace for the disposal of solid waste generated by the oil and gas industry. The facility will offer disposal of produced and flowback water, contaminated soil, and industrial wastes.

The Grasslands Facility was designed with safety for personnel and environmental protection as the highest priorities. The design of the facility ensures that trucks are always moving forward to minimize backing within the facility. This is an important safety measure, as one out of every four accidents can be attributed to backing according to the National Safety Council. Pull through access also increases efficiency due to faster unloading times and reduces wear and tear on vehicles.

Another important safety feature built into the design of Grasslands is active water transfer, meaning control over water is maintained at all times, ensuring there is no risk of losing containment.

“When we first conceived of Grasslands, we wanted to create a turnkey facility to fully serve our customers’ needs, but we also wanted to be as forward looking as possible by using the latest features and technologies to ensure maximum environmental safety and operational efficiency,” said Ernest Kaufmann, president, Green Group Holdings. “That’s why Grasslands Environmental was built from the ground up by a team of talented, highly qualified professionals with decades of experience in the waste, recycling, energy and development industries. We look forward to servicing Wyoming’s oil and gas exploration and production industry and becoming an active and involved member in the local community.”

Grasslands Environmental began fresh water sales in August 2014 and will begin accepting wastewater late October 2014. The industrial landfill and the deep well injection sites are in the permitting process and expected to be operational in 2015.
